Welcome to Micófilos, an NGO based in Chile dedicated to the research, education, conservation, and dissemination of scientific knowledge about the fascinating world of fungi. As mushroom lovers in all their manifestations, we promote a deeper understanding of the Fungi Kingdom through various activities and initiatives.

In the field of research, we collaborate with national and international institutions to study the diversity of the Fungi Kingdom. Our team constantly strives to improve through postgraduate courses and internships, fostering collaborative work with both Chilean and foreign colleagues.

Education is a key aspect of our work. We have created Mycology Clubs for Children in Chile and develop didactic materials to teach the characteristics of fungi to the general public. We also offer free activities such as talks, field trips, courses, and workshops to support educators, researchers, and individuals interested in collecting edible wild mushrooms.

Conservation is at the heart of our mission. We contribute to the protection of Chilean fungi, lichens, and mycorrhizae, as well as the preservation of our forests. Our fungarium, registered in the New York Index Herbariorum, holds 2,000 samples, providing a valuable record of our fieldwork and supporting ongoing research.

We are passionate about sharing our knowledge and findings with the wider community. Our team has made significant contributions to the study of the Fungi Kingdom in Chile through scientific articles, books, manuals, and more.
