MidAtlanticRISA

The Mid-Atlantic Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (MARISA) is a dedicated NOAA Climate Adaptation Partnership committed to enhancing the resilience of Chesapeake Bay and Mid-Atlantic communities against climate variability and change. Through advanced understanding and innovative responses, MARISA focuses on improving public engagement and data-driven decision-making across the region.

MARISA offers a range of resources and services, including climate summaries, data tools, and a unique Small Grants Program that supports community adaptation planning. The organization conducts research and outreach in key locations such as Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and rural coastal areas in Virginia, addressing the climate-sensitive needs of vulnerable populations. Notable tools include the Chesapeake Bay Model Inventory and the Seasonal Climate Impacts Summary, which aid in water management and climate insights.

Through collaborative efforts and community engagement, MARISA strives to foster sustainable practices and empower diverse stakeholders to better prepare for and respond to a changing climate. Their work is essential for shaping resilient communities in the face of ongoing environmental challenges.
