Midnight Express

MidNight Express is a mountain biking and gravel cycling event presented by Red Cherry Events, taking riders on a challenging overnight journey through the Karoo from Steytlerville to Patensie. The event is designed for mountain bike, gravel bike and e-bike riders, welcoming both experienced competitors and participants looking to test their limits. Its signature 129-kilometre route crosses rugged landscapes and the Groot River Poort, with a demanding 18-kilometre climb before the finish. Riders set off at midnight beneath the Karoo’s starry skies and reach the final stretch as dawn breaks.

The event offers a main race for teams of two to eight, with entry priced at R825 per person according to the published information. Participants can also arrange vehicle transport from the start to the finish through the event’s “No Hassle Car Transport” service. Event support includes three water points, traffic and trail coordination, timing, medical backup, and an organised start and finish experience.
