The New Zealand College of Midwives is a professional organization and the recognized voice for midwives and student midwives in Aotearoa New Zealand. With representation from over 90% of all practicing midwives, the College works collaboratively with maternity consumer groups to ensure high-quality maternity services in the country. They have established and actively promote high standards for midwifery practice, providing midwives with the necessary support and resources to meet these standards through education and their Midwifery Standards Review process.

The College is committed to the professional development of midwives and offers a mentored intern year called the Midwifery First Year of Practice (MFYP) Programme for new graduates. They also collaborate with various professional groups and organizations in the healthcare industry to implement government strategies that enhance maternity and midwifery services for New Zealand women and their babies. As the representative of midwifery and women's health interests, the College engages with government bodies, health organizations, consumer groups, and the general public to advocate for the best interests of midwives and the women they serve.
