Mobilization and Political Economy (MPE) is a highly esteemed brand that offers the Mobilization and Political Economy Summer Research Program. This program is specifically designed for undergraduate students from underrepresented groups who are interested in conducting research on mobilization and/or political economy. The 8-week residential program, held at the University of Pittsburgh, provides participants with comprehensive training in research methods, professional development, and mentorship opportunities.

The program aims to achieve several crucial objectives. Firstly, it aims to foster personal and professional growth and well-being among participants. Secondly, it seeks to bridge the quantitative analysis skills gap for the participants. Additionally, the program strives to expose participants to rigorous research projects and equip them with the necessary skills to succeed in the field of political science.

Taking place from late May to the end of July, the program covers travel expenses, lodging, provides living expenses, and offers a stipend to participants. The application deadline for the program is December 18, 2023, and interested individuals must meet specific eligibility requirements, including having a minimum 3.0 GPA and being U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or permanent residents of the United States.

Applicants are required to submit an academic transcript, contact details of two professors who will serve as references, a short essay on their motivation for pursuing graduate studies, a description of the research area(s) they want to explore during the program, and an explanation of why they wish to participate in this program.
