Mikkelin seudun AVH-yhdistys ry is a regional association supporting people who have experienced a cerebrovascular accident (CVA) and their families and loved ones. Its guiding message is “Don’t be left alone! Don’t leave anyone alone!” The association works to provide regular, rehabilitative activities and peer support in Juva, Kangasniemi, Mikkeli and Pieksämäki.
Its programme includes local CVA club meetings, peer-support opportunities, memory-training groups and balance activities. The association also shares information about adaptation training, supported holidays, courses and support for relatives, working-age members and others affected by a CVA. Activities and events offer opportunities to meet others with similar experiences and take part in community life.
Members can participate in the association’s activities free of charge or at a low, cost-based price, for example on excursions. They receive a printed members’ newsletter twice a year as well as additional updates electronically. The association welcomes new members and provides information about its activities, events, news and local services through its website.
