Mikkelin seudun Omaishoitajat

Mikkelin seudun Omaishoitajat ja Läheiset ry is a regional association supporting family caregivers and their loved ones in the Mikkeli area of Finland. Its work focuses on helping caregivers find information, guidance, peer support and opportunities to strengthen their wellbeing. The association offers counselling and advice, groups, training, excursions and events, as well as holidays and rehabilitation activities.

It also provides resources for families with children, including information on recognizing caring responsibilities and support related to children, siblings, parenting and family relationships. Topics addressed include support and benefits, caring for older people, working-age caregivers, distance caregiving, young carers and life after caregiving ends. The association promotes volunteering and draws on the experience of experts by experience, who can be booked and trained.

It shares materials such as guides, videos, podcasts, research and a blog, and provides information for professionals. Based at Mikkeli University Centre’s Tietotaitokortteli, the association also welcomes members and supporting member organizations. Fundraising helps sustain its activities for caregivers
