The Ministerio de Defensa de Bolivia plays a pivotal role in ensuring national security and defense, managing the resources of the Armed Forces, and addressing strategic humanitarian needs. Founded in 1825, during the establishment of the Republic, it has evolved to become a resilient institution focused on transparency and effective governance.
The ministry oversees various essential services, including mandatory military service, premilitary training, and recruitment processes. It also administers legal provisions regarding military affairs and human rights, emphasizing its commitment to public integrity and anti-corruption initiatives.
With a clear mission to formulate and implement national defense policies, the Ministry is structured into various directorates, including logistics, territorial military operations, and the management of security zones. This comprehensive approach ensures the ministry meets its objectives while adapting to the changing demands of security and humanitarian crises. As it strides towards becoming a highly efficient public entity by 2025, it continues to prioritize effective resource management and transparent operations.
