Mini Shetlandponys vom Reichenthal

Mini Shetland Ponys vom Reichenthal is a family-run breeding operation based in Waidhaus, in Germany’s Upper Palatinate near the Czech border. Alexander and Alina Kraus and their daughter Liyah raise original Shetland ponies under 87 centimetres on approximately 16 hectares of pasture. Their interest in miniature ponies began in 2020, and the first foals bred under the “vom Reichenthal” name arrived in 2024.

The herd includes stallions, mares and foals, with dedicated sections showcasing current animals and foals by year. During the breeding season, selected stallions cover mares in a pasture herd. Outside that season, stallions and young stallions share an open stable, while pregnant mares move to winter accommodation with boxes and a shared paddock before foaling. Routine hoof care, veterinary visits, vaccinations and deworming are part of the breeding programme. The family breeds through the German Horse Breeding Association (ZfdP). Visitors are welcome by prior telephone appointment, and the website provides information and contact details for enquiries about the ponies and visits.
