Mirandas Rescue

Miranda’s Rescue is an animal rescue based on Sandy Prairie Road in Fortuna, California, serving large and small animals. Founded by Shannon Miranda, the organization says it has spent more than 30 years rescuing and caring for animals, including animals transferred from shelters across Northern California and animals from communities without their own shelter facilities. Its work includes providing shelter, rehabilitation, and outreach, with the goal of finding animals safe, suitable homes through adoption.

The rescue’s website also features volunteer opportunities, educational resources, events, videos, and fundraising activities, including a thrift shop and community donations that help support animal care. Miranda’s Rescue describes itself as a no-kill organization, while noting that euthanasia may be considered in rare cases involving terminal suffering or serious, ongoing danger. As of October 2, 2026, the rescue reports that it is temporarily closed while it updates operating permits required by the county.

During this closure, it cannot accept animal surrenders or conduct adoptions, though animals continue to need homes
