Mirauds Volants

Les Mirauds Volants is the public-facing name of the Association Européenne des Pilotes Handicapés Visuels (AEPHV), a French association dedicated to making aviation accessible to people with visual impairments. Based in Toulouse, the organization helps members learn to pilot aircraft, gliders and ultralight aircraft, with instruction supported by the Soundflyer, a device that converts an aircraft’s movements into sound signals. Its activities include regular flying courses for beginners and experienced participants, as well as group preparation for the theoretical pilot licence examination.

Members fly through aeroclubs and take part in efforts to develop inclusive aviation in France and Europe. The association also promotes awareness of visual impairment and inclusion at public events. To broaden access to aviation culture, it arranges museum visits and participation in airshows, translates documents into Braille, and runs a specialist audio library of aviation-related works.

Les Mirauds Volants shares news, event information and resources for members and the public, and welcomes support for its work
