MisbrugsSpecialisten is an independent Danish consultancy offering professional guidance on addiction and substance-related challenges. Drawing on 25 years of experience as a social worker, including work in the correctional system, municipalities, social services and addiction-treatment leadership, the specialist supports individuals, families, managers and businesses. Areas of concern include alcohol, drugs, medication, gambling and other forms of dependency.

Rather than providing treatment, MisbrugsSpecialisten helps clarify each situation, assess needs and identify or coordinate the appropriate next steps. Services include confidential advice, professional assessments, referral and coordination, preparation for difficult conversations, support for relatives, and guidance for employers and HR teams. Businesses can also receive help developing or applying an addiction policy and handling sensitive workplace cases.

The consultancy uses the structured U.M.A.G.E.® method, which combines guided conversations with validated screening tools to consider psychological, social and physical factors, motivation and readiness for treatment. MisbrugsSpecialisten also offers workshops, talks and presentations, including a personal account of overcoming the effects of growing up with addiction.
