Misericordia di San Sosti

Misericordia di San Sosti is a volunteer-led community association serving San Sosti and the surrounding area through emergency response, social support and charitable work. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour ambulance service, emergency medical assistance through Italy’s 118 system, and sanitary and social transport, including transport for people with disabilities. The association also offers first-aid and driver-rescuer training, prevention activities, mobile operational posts and loans of medical aids.

Beyond healthcare, Misericordia di San Sosti is active in Civil Protection and has contributed to response operations following the Central Italy earthquake. It supports volunteer development through National Civil Service projects and regularly organises courses for prospective rescue volunteers. Its charitable work includes assistance in public and private hospital and care facilities, as well as the Peppino Panebianco shelter, established for people facing housing emergencies and social hardship. The shelter is intended as a safe place offering welcome, listening and support, including for women affected by violence or abuse.
