Mississinewa Battlefield Society is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to commemorating the Battle of Mississinewa and sharing the history of America’s early frontier. Its signature event, Mississinewa 1812, is described as the largest War of 1812 living history event in the United States. Held annually in Grant County, Indiana, the gathering invites families, students, and history enthusiasts to explore the region’s past through demonstrations, performances, and historical reenactments.
Visitors can experience British and American military encampments, daily life in a reconstructed woodland Native American village, and wilderness camps portraying trappers, voyageurs, and pirates. The event also features battle reenactments, artillery and musket drills, traditional crafts, storytelling, music, and more than 200 merchants, artisans, food vendors, and performers. Educational activities and school programs extend the Society’s work beyond the annual event. The organization also offers event tickets, participant registration, volunteer opportunities, merchandise, and annual commemorative medallions. Through these experiences and community activities, Mississinewa Battlefield Society helps bring the stories and traditions of the early nineteenth century to life.
