Mitchell Show Society

Mitchell Show Society Inc. is a community organisation in Mitchell, Queensland, dedicated to celebrating local life and showcasing the town and district. Established in 1909, the Society has presented the Mitchell Show for more than a century, building a tradition sustained by volunteers and committee members. Although records were lost in the 2012 floods, the event has continued to bring people together, reflecting the community’s pride, resilience and history.

The annual show features ring events and exhibits, with each edition offering visitors new experiences and memories. The Society describes it as “Everybody’s show” and invites the public to attend, take part and enjoy its program. Its website provides information about upcoming show dates, important details and online forms, as well as a gallery and contact information. The commemorative book, “100 Mitchell Shows,” is available in the Archives at the Library for those interested in the event’s history. The Society is based on Alice Street in Mitchell and is supported by the Queensland Government through the Show Societies Grants Program.
