About Mittelaltermarkt-Muenchende
The Medieval Christmas Market at Wittelsbacherplatz is a seasonal event in Munich’s Maxvorstadt district, organized by MEDIEVAL MONACUM OHG. Running since 2005, it recreates the atmosphere of a historic market with carefully designed stalls, detailed historical reproductions and references to Munich’s medieval past. The organizers aim to make local history engaging and accessible, while maintaining a commitment to sustainability.
Visitors can explore traditional crafts, distinctive food and drink, and historical attractions inspired by old Munich city culture. A cultural program is presented on each Advent weekend, adding performances and festive highlights to the market experience. The event also provides information about its merchants, accessibility, sustainability and historical context.
The market is held at Wittelsbacherplatz, at Brienner Straße 6–10. For 2026, it is scheduled to run from November 20 to December 23, with a ceremonial opening on November 20 at 6 p.m.; it is closed on November 22 for Totensonntag. Opening hours are daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
