About ZDH
The Mittelstandsinitiative Energiewende und Klimaschutz (MIE) is a pioneering initiative in Germany that empowers traditional craft businesses to navigate the energy transition and contribute to climate protection. Established in 2013 through the collaboration of seven environmental centers and backed by key organizations like ZDH and BMWK, MIE offers a wealth of free consulting services and tools specifically designed for craft enterprises.
With a network of over 70 transfer partners, MIE provides tailored support across multiple trades, including bakeries, butchers, hairdressers, automotive, metalworks, textiles, and carpentry. The initiative helps businesses improve energy efficiency, reduce consumption, and maximize savings, fundamentally enhancing their competitiveness.
The MIE also features innovative tools like the E-Tool Web portal, allowing companies to assess their energy usage and identify opportunities for cost reduction, alongside crucial insights into their carbon footprint. Through workshops, materials, and expert advice, MIE champions a sustainable future for the craft sector while maintaining operational viability.
