Da es noch keine Infrastruktur für deutschsprachige, muslimische Jugendliche in Ãsterreich gab, empfanden wir es als eine Notwendigkeit, eine solche Organisation ins Leben zu rufen. Fern ab von religiösem Extremismus auf der einen und einer völligen Auflösung der eigenen Identität auf der anderen Seite wollen wir eine österreichisch-islamische Identität kreieren. "Ãsterreichisch-islamische Identität" heiÃt für uns, vollwertige BürgerInnen des Staates Ãsterreich zu sein und somit auf allen Ebenen â gesellschaftlich, politisch, wirtschaftlich und kulturell â zu partizipieren. MuslimIn sein und ÃsterreicherIn sein ist kein Widerspruch. Die Beheimatung und Verwurzelung der muslimischen Jugend in Ãsterreich verlangt im Gegenteil nach einer kreativen Verbindung der islamischen und österreichischen Identität. Sie soll ein Ausdruck der neuen Generation sein.

About MJÖ
Muslimische Jugend Österreich (MJÖ) is an organization dedicated to empowering and supporting Muslim youth in Austria.
