MME

The Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society (MME) is a public-benefit organization dedicated to protecting birds, wildlife, and natural habitats in Hungary. It combines conservation work with research, education, and public involvement, drawing on a network of local groups and specialist sections. Its activities include species conservation programmes, bird ringing and migration research, bird monitoring, habitat protection, and conservation projects. The society also invites the public to take part in wildlife surveys, including nationwide counts of nesting owls, and provides guidance on helping birds and other animals in gardens, such as installing nest boxes and creating bird-friendly spaces.

MME offers educational resources through its Nature Conservation Academy, knowledge centre, publications, mobile applications, exhibitions, camps, competitions, and community programmes. Its website shares news, events, species information, and advice on wildlife care and conservation challenges. The organization also promotes awareness through annual initiatives highlighting selected birds, butterflies, reptiles, and habitats. People can support its work through membership, donations, volunteering, purchases from its shop, and tax contributions.
