The Music Museum of New England (MMONE) is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich musical heritage of New England. As a non-profit organization, MMONE's mission is to educate and inform through extensive research conducted by their team of passionate volunteers. Since its launch in 2005, MMONE has been tirelessly adding information, images, audio, video, and links to their website.
MMONE has two criteria for inclusion in their museum: a person, place, or organization must have had professional involvement in the New England music scene at least 15 years ago, and they must have germinated their unique style in New England, playing a pivotal role in the region's musical heritage. To establish a presence in the real world, MMONE launched the Boston Music Trail™, featuring historical markers highlighting places of musical significance. The Music Museum of New England is also a Section 501(c)(3) organization, making it eligible to receive tax-deductible donations.
