MMSF

The Manitoba Medical Service Foundation (MMSF) is a Manitoba-based foundation that supports research and education to improve the health and well-being of Manitobans. Established in 1971, it focuses particularly on helping early-career researchers and students advance scientific knowledge and strengthen health-related work across the province. Its funding supports medical and scientific research as well as allied health fields, including nursing and social work.

MMSF offers research operating grants, career development and supervisor research awards, and student awards and funding. It also provides application information and final report forms, and publishes details about current and past recipients. Funded projects address a wide range of topics, from clinical care and mental health to disease mechanisms, health services, and community well-being. The Foundation reports having committed more than $26.5 million to Manitoba research and education since its inception, including over 750 research grants and nearly $2.5 million in support for BSc Med and BSc Dental research students. Manitoba Blue Cross has been its primary supporter, providing financial and administrative support.
