Moana Skies

Moana Skies is a stargazing tourism brand based in Kaikōura, New Zealand, offering guided experiences in the region’s International Dark Sky Sanctuary. Set between the mountains and the Pacific Ocean, the sanctuary provides exceptionally dark skies for exploring stars, constellations, the Milky Way and other celestial sights. Local astronomers lead tours for visitors of varied ages and levels of knowledge, using laser pointers, binoculars and telescopes to help guests observe the sky and learn about astronomy, star navigation and the history of the cosmos.

Moana Skies offers Lunar and Solar Tours, private tours and packages, with experiences designed for individuals, families and groups. Its Astronomy Centre in central Kaikōura complements the outdoor tours with safe solar viewing through solar telescopes, immersive virtual-reality space tours, historical displays and family-friendly activities. The brand presents astronomy as both educational and engaging, welcoming curious beginners as well as experienced enthusiasts. Guests can explore tour options, find information about Kaikōura’s skies and make bookings through Moana Skies.
