MOAS, also known as Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, is a community-focused animal welfare organization serving Madison and Oglethorpe Counties. Its mission is to care for animals in need and help them find loving homes, including animals that are sick, injured, frightened, pregnant, or nursing. The shelter offers cat and dog adoptions, lost-pet support, intake services, and opportunities to foster, volunteer, sponsor a shelter pet, or become a member.
To help prevent animal overpopulation and reduce shelter admissions, MOAS operates low-cost spay/neuter and vaccine clinics. Its services also include heartworm treatment, an online pharmacy, a pet food bank, and support for feral animals. MOAS raises funds through donations, memberships, community events, and corporate sponsorships, including its annual Bark & Wine fundraiser and Putts for Mutts.
The organization also welcomes donations of food, supplies, and professional services. Facing rising expenses and aging facilities, MOAS is seeking community support to keep its shelter open and continue providing care and essential services
