About Modern Cooking Facility for Africa
The Modern Cooking Facility for Africa (MCFA) is a brand dedicated to providing clean cooking solutions to 3 million Africans by the end of 2027. Their program aims to improve health and combat climate change by reducing indoor air pollution, CO2 emissions, and deforestation. MCFA financially incentivizes Cooking Service Providers to offer affordable, high-quality, and energy-efficient clean cooking services to peri-urban and urban customers in six Sub-Saharan African countries.
They advocate for the use of sustainable cooking fuels like bioethanol, bio-LPG, biogas, electric cooking solutions, and solid biofuels. By supporting these technologies, MCFA plans to distribute up to 600,000 higher tier cookstoves, resulting in reduced CO2 emissions, forest conservation, improved respiratory health, and increased job opportunities, especially for women. MCFA aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 3 on good health, SDG 5 on gender empowerment, SDG 7 on clean energy access, SDG 13 on climate change, and SDG 15 on land conservation.
The program is supported by donors such as Sweden and the European Union as part of their commitment to sustainable development. Through their efforts, MCFA aims to create a long-term sustainable market for clean cooking solutions in Africa and improve the lives of millions
