About Mohácsi Busójárás
Mohácsi Busójárás is a well-known tradition of the Mohács Sokác people, with festivities traditionally spanning from Shrove Sunday to Fat Tuesday, following the spring equinox. The highlight is the Busójárás Festival in 2024. Participants dress up in elaborate costumes and masks, embodying the spirit of the celebration.
The event kicks off at the Kóló Square, where various Busó groups gather before parading through the main street to the town square, engaging in merry-making and receiving food and drink offerings. The festival culminates in a lively celebration by the Danube riverside and surrounding streets, marked by music, dancing, and joy. This cultural extravaganza attracts over 60,000 visitors with 140+ programs across 6 days and 15 locations.
