About Mole Day
Mole Day is an annual celebration held on October 23 from 6:02 a. m. This special day was established to cultivate a passion for chemistry and is widely celebrated by schools across the United States and around the globe through engaging chemistry-related activities and mole-centered events.
For those new to the concept, a mole represents a specific quantity of a substance, measured in grams, equal to its molar mass. For instance, one mole of water weighs 18 grams, and one mole of neon weighs 20 grams. This crucial relationship between moles and substances was discovered by Amedeo Avogadro and has been honored ever since.
The National Mole Day Foundation, a non-profit organization led by chemistry teachers, aims to ignite interest and enthusiasm in students, teachers, and chemistry enthusiasts alike. With a wide range of initiatives, including selecting an annual theme for Mole Day, providing classroom resources, showcasing student and teacher work, and supporting professional development, the foundation is committed to promoting the wonders of chemistry. To support their mission, consider becoming a member of the National Mole Day Foundation or exploring their store.
