About Monsoon Asians & Pacific Islanders in Solidarity
Monsoon Asians & Pacific Islanders in Solidarity, formerly known as Monsoon United Asian Women of Iowa, is a community-based organization that supports victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking within the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities in Iowa. Their mission is to put an end to all forms of gender-based violence by fostering transformative justice and social change. With offices in Des Moines and Iowa City, they provide free and confidential services to individuals in all 99 counties of Iowa.
Monsoon offers a range of programs and services, including direct assistance, community outreach and education, violence prevention, and technical support. Their multilingual staff members, who collectively speak 14 languages, are dedicated to helping those in need. The organization is funded by the Iowa Crime Victim Assistance Division, the U.
