About Montis
A MONTIS – Associação de Conservação da Natureza is a national non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with a focus on environmental conservation. Founded on March 23, 2014, in Vouzela, Viseu district, the MONTIS Association currently has 423 members and manages approximately 300 hectares, consisting of 34 properties in central Portugal and one in the Lisbon area.
The core objectives of MONTIS are to ensure the development of natural processes, promote the conservation of native species, intelligently manage forest fires and other natural risks, and increase the market value of biodiversity. They strive to produce biodiversity through sustainable management of the natural heritage, through a participatory, transparent, and open approach.
The organization differentiates itself by focusing on the concrete purchase and management of lands, with a long-term vision, adaptive logic, and results-based analysis. A MONTIS offers various programs, including volunteering opportunities, fundraising campaigns, and financing programs, to support and advance their goals. With a commitment to nature conservation and biodiversity, A MONTIS invites individuals to become members, make donations, and participate in their upcoming activities and events.
