Moorabool Catchment

Moorabool Catchment Landcare Group is a community organisation supporting landholders across the Moorabool region to manage their land sustainably for agricultural production and biodiversity. Working with broad-acre farmers, urban residents and other community members, the group combines practical assistance, education and collaboration to care for the local environment. Members can access revegetation planning, free native plants, grant funding for weed and pest animal control, fauna monitoring, citizen science projects, volunteer activities and educational seminars. The group distributes 15,000 native plants to members each year and helps people build knowledge of sustainable land use, production and conservation.

Its projects include the Moorabool Catchment Restoration Program, which works with private landholders on waterway restoration through fencing, weed and pest control, and revegetation to support water quality and riverside vegetation. The Moorabool Koala Count contributes to national monitoring with CSIRO, Wadawurrung Traditional Owners and citizen scientists. The group also offers the Moorabool Healthy Hectares guide to help landholders assess and care for their properties.
