Stichting Morasha is a Dutch foundation established in 1984 to support and promote research into the history, culture and traditions of Dutch Jews. Its name comes from the Hebrew word for “heritage,” reflecting its focus on preserving and deepening understanding of Jewish life in the Netherlands. Morasha aims to address gaps in historical scholarship and encourages research by individual scholars and organizations. The foundation initiates projects and also welcomes requests for support or collaboration from authors and institutions.
Its work has helped bring research and publications to a wider audience. Past initiatives include a major project on Hugo de Groot’s Remonstrantie in 2016 and the publication of Dr. Theodor Dunkelgrün’s Never Printed Like This Before in 2014. Morasha has also supported smaller projects and research into changing relations between Amsterdam’s Sephardic and Ashkenazi communities in the eighteenth century. More recent supported publications include Ewoud Sanders’s guide to Jewish sources in Delpher and Van Appeljood tot Zuurjood, both published in 2024, and Jood, de vergeten geschiedenis van een beladen woord, published in 2025.
