About morieninstitute
The Morien Institute, established in 1996 by John Michael, is a not-for-profit research and education network dedicated to promoting accessibility in archaeology and astronomy for people with disabilities. Located in South Wales, the Institute organizes inclusive activities such as 'Star Parties,' where participants can observe celestial events like meteor showers, solar and lunar eclipses, and learn about constellations through telescopes and naked-eye observations.
The organization also hosts archaeological expeditions, often collaborating with sites of historical significance to enhance the understanding of ancient skywatching practices. Inspired by the works of Owen ‘Morien’ Morgan, it seeks to unravel the mysteries of ancient knowledge, especially that of the Druids, known for their deep understanding of astronomy.
Through the development of an Ancient Mysteries Archive, the Morien Institute compiles resources on various archaeological and astronomical topics, promoting a reevaluation of historical interpretations. Their commitment to fostering engagement with the universe enriches both personal and communal experiences of the stars, bridging past and present knowledge.
