Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is a unique cultural attraction located in Palm Beach County, Florida. Its rich history dates back to the early 1900s when a group of young Japanese farmers created a community called Yamato with the ambition to revolutionize agriculture in the region. Although the community did not achieve its goals, its legacy is preserved at the museum, which offers exhibitions chronicling the history of the Yamato Colony and the design philosophy of garden designer Hoichi Kurisu.

The museum features a stunning architecture inspired by traditional Japanese design and houses three exhibition galleries, a theater, an authentic tea house, classrooms, a museum store, and a lakeside terrace for dining. It boasts a diverse collection of over 7,000 Japanese art objects and artifacts, including a remarkable 500-piece collection of tea ceremony items. Surrounding the museum buildings are 16 acres of Japanese gardens, which reflect major periods of Japanese garden design.

These gardens provide a serene and tranquil setting with strolling paths, resting areas, beautiful bonsai collections, and lakes teeming with koi and other wildlife. The wider 200-acre park offers nature trails, pine forests, and picnic areas for visitors to explore. Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens aims to engage a diverse audience by presenting Japanese cultural experiences through rotating exhibitions, monthly tea ceremonies, and educational outreach programs.
