Karakuwa Goten Tsunakan is a family-run guesthouse in the Karakuwa Peninsula area of Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture. Founded in 2012 by Kazuyo Sugano, it grew from connections made with people during recovery efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake. Guests who wanted to return to Karakuwa and revisit its scenery inspired Sugano to renovate her earthquake-damaged home and welcome visitors as an inn.
Tsunakan offers an inviting, home-style stay and serves homemade meals prepared with local vegetables and freshly caught seafood. Visitors can make accommodation reservations through the website, and the inn also offers day-use plans. For a quieter, more private experience, guests can book its fully reserved sauna, which is available as an optional selection when arranging a stay. The website provides practical information about lodging, sauna reservations, and access, as well as updates and stories about the inn. Rooted in local hospitality and the history of its community, Tsunakan gives visitors an opportunity to enjoy Karakuwa’s setting and warm, personal atmosphere.
