Mořské Želvy

Chráníme mořské želvy z. s. is a conservation organization dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles and supporting the communities that live alongside them.

Since 2014, it has helped safeguard nesting beaches at six locations in Indonesia and three in southern Sri Lanka, where five of the world’s seven sea turtle species lay eggs. Local conservation teams move eggs out of danger and release hatchlings into the sea; the organization reports that more than five million turtles have been released through its efforts. Its work also includes education for children on wildlife, the ocean, English and waste reduction, as well as workshops that teach local people to make souvenirs from sustainable materials instead of turtle shell.

The organization supports local craft workshops and works with governments, universities, Indigenous communities and volunteers. In the Czech Republic, it raises awareness through school and library talks, concerts, exhibitions and responsible-travel outreach. It also offers conservation consulting in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and elsewhere, and welcomes public participation, donations and other initiatives to help monitor and protect sea turtles
