MOTAC

Metro Omaha Tobacco Action Coalition (MOTAC) is a community coalition formed in 1992 to strengthen tobacco prevention and control across the Omaha metro area. It leads efforts in Douglas County through public policy, education, and community action, with a mission to prevent and reduce tobacco use and its health and economic consequences. MOTAC works to reduce tobacco use across populations and limit exposure to secondhand smoke by building capacity among diverse groups and stakeholders.

The coalition provides information and resources on smoke-free housing for renters and property owners, tobacco-free policies for businesses and school campuses, and smoke-free outdoor dining. Its initiatives also address tobacco retailer density and compliance, menthol cigarettes, tobacco advertising, youth prevention, and tobacco-free parks. Visitors can explore interactive maps of tobacco retailers, find quit-tobacco information, and access prevention and advocacy resources. MOTAC supports environments that protect residents from secondhand smoke and encourage tobacco- and vapor-free recreation. Its work is supported in part through Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services’ Tobacco Free Nebraska Program.
