Mothering Melanin

Mothering Melanin is a Tampa Bay doula practice founded by Jazzlyn, offering trauma-informed, culturally affirming support for Black birthing people and their families. Serving Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, and surrounding areas, the practice centers each client’s identity, traditions, values, and lived experience. Its approach emphasizes evidence-based care, patient advocacy, informed consent, and respect for every family’s choices.

Services include continuous labor and birth support, prenatal visits and education, personalized birth planning, partner and support-person coaching, and postpartum follow-up. Jazzlyn helps clients prepare for birth, explore their preferences, and communicate with their care team, while providing physical comfort, emotional grounding, and advocacy. Postpartum support includes newborn-care guidance, emotional check-ins, and referrals to local resources. Doulas do not perform medical tasks; they complement, rather than replace, clinical care and the client’s chosen support people.

The process begins with a free, no-obligation 30-minute consultation and can include a personalized care plan, prenatal preparation, on-call labor support, and a postpartum visit.
