Moto Historica, run by Mario Lütold, is a workshop dedicated to preserving and restoring Italian racing motorcycles from the mid-twentieth century, particularly machines and engines associated with Motobi and Gilera. Its work also covers historic racing equipment from Maltry and Reima. The website presents histories and technical information on Reima and Maltry engines, including several 250cc and 350cc models and a Reima twin.
The workshop offers engine overhauls and machining of engine components. Services include boring, grinding and honing cylinders; reconditioning cylinder heads and valve seats; tuning crankshafts and their bearings; machining engine cases; and welding aluminium. It can also produce turned and milled parts and manufacture components for historic motorsport. Moto Historica notes that its workshop tools and machinery enable it to address many of the challenges encountered during restoration.
A featured project is the repair and rebuild of a rare 500cc Reima twin racing engine. Missing or worn parts for this project were newly manufactured, reflecting the workshop’s practical focus on maintaining and restoring historic racing machinery.
