Moulin de la Source

Moulin de la Source is a community organization founded in 1990 by parents of children with physical disabilities to address unmet needs in the region, including the need for respite. Located in Valleyfield, Quebec, it is described as the only day centre serving people with physical disabilities across three regional county municipalities. Its beneficiaries include people who have had a disability since birth and those whose disabilities resulted from an accident or illness later in life.

The organization’s mission is to provide respite and a welcoming place where parents, beneficiaries and their loved ones can recharge. It aims to improve beneficiaries’ quality of life by involving social-service professionals, parents and guardians wherever possible. Moulin de la Source emphasizes a warm, supportive environment staffed by competent personnel. In addition to its day-centre services, the organization invites community members to volunteer and support its work. It also raises funds through activities such as an annual benefit spaghetti dinner and accepts donations to help sustain its services.
