**Mountain Grass Unit** is an innovative bluegrass band hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, comprised of Drury Anderson (mandolin, vocals), Luke Black (guitar, vocals), Josiah Nelson (fiddle, vocals), and Sam Wilson (bass, vocals). This young quartet skillfully redefines the bluegrass genre, blending traditional sounds with eclectic influences from country, jazz, funk, rock, and metal.
Their debut EP, "Runnin’ From Trouble," released in 2024, highlights their original compositions and inventive covers, drawing inspiration from iconic musicians such as Tony Rice and Billy Strings. Recorded at Nashville’s Hartland Studios and produced by Mike Harris of Old Crow Medicine Show fame, the EP encapsulates their lively performance energy, featuring notable tracks like the introspective single “Hey Mama” and the upbeat “Cicada Song.”
In 2024, Mountain Grass Unit gained traction with notable performances at festivals like Renewal, DelFest, and WinterWondergrass, expanding their audience and enriching their musical exploration. With plans for extensive touring and new music on the horizon, this band is poised to share their unique sound with the world.
