Mouvement Albatros

The Fédération du Mouvement Albatros du Québec (FMAQ) brings together and supports member organizations providing volunteer accompaniment and support in palliative care and at the end of life. Active in 10 regions of Québec, the Albatros movement helps people living with serious illness from diagnosis onward, while also offering support to their loved ones. Around 600 volunteers provide free, compassionate, non-discriminatory companionship, helping people experience this stage of life with dignity and gentleness.

Services are available in people’s homes, hospitals, palliative care residences, long-term care centres, and public or private residences for older adults. The federation strengthens its member organizations through training, research resources, development support, and opportunities for exchange and mutual assistance. It also promotes the Albatros approach, represents members’ interests, and works with community and institutional partners to advance recognition of palliative and end-of-life care. Guided by equity, integrity, solidarity, and transparency, FMAQ also supports people seeking to establish the Albatros approach in regions or communities not yet served by a member organization.
