Movement is Medicine™ is an adaptive fitness initiative created by the Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation (HNF) to help people with disabilities, including those affected by Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and other rare conditions, safely adopt more active and healthy lifestyles. Its mission combines exercise and nutrition programs designed specifically for people with disabilities, with an emphasis on inclusive, accessible physical activity and overall well-being.
The program offers online fitness classes, videos, educational resources, webinars, and opportunities to connect with fitness ambassadors who provide adaptive, inclusive instruction. Activities listed include seated yoga, Pilates and seated cardio, strength training, functional fitness, inclusive dance, hand exercises, massage, Kundalini yoga, strength and balance, aquatic exercise, pain management, and Zumba.
