About Museum of the Moving Image
The Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) is a world-class cultural institution located at 36-01 35th Avenue in Astoria, Queens, New York, dedicated to the art, history, technique, and technology of film, television, and digital media. Through its landmark core exhibition Behind the Screen, rotating exhibitions, film screenings, and educational programmes, MoMI immerses visitors in the creative and technical processes of producing, promoting, and presenting moving image entertainment. The Museum provides curriculum-based educational experiences to approximately 70,000 students each year, alongside tours, workshops, and screenings for all ages.
The recently launched MoMI LAB — a people's lab for technology and culture — offers free public access to the technologies shaping everyday life, alongside an artist residency programme. MoMI also publishes Reverse Shot, an online film criticism journal, and runs Sloan Science & Film, an initiative exploring the intersection of science and cinema
