Moving Science is a Copenhagen-based visual science communication studio founded by human biologist Ann-Louise Bergström, whose background includes neuroscience. The brand helps organizations and researchers make complex scientific, biological and technical subjects clearer and more engaging through visual storytelling. Its services include 2D and 3D animations and explainers, scientific illustrations, infographics, data visualizations and talks. Visual work ranges from hand-drawn and vector graphics to 3D-rendered images and animated GIFs.
Moving Science has created materials for varied topics and audiences, including a website with illustrations and animations for a post-polio organization and illustrations for a University of Copenhagen research project on fecal transplantation as part of anorexia nervosa treatment. The studio also uses graphic novels to communicate science and science history. Its book Matilda-effekten, written and hand-drawn by Bergström and published by FADL’s Forlag, explores women scientists whose contributions have been overlooked. Other projects include a graphic novel about architect Jørn Utzon.
