Movotec Devices

Movotec is a Danish company focused on improving the lives and possibilities of people with movement disorders through diagnostic methods and tools. Its featured product, the PSAD, is a handheld medical device designed for bedside, objective assessment of different components of spasticity. Developed by Movotec in cooperation with the University of Copenhagen and the Elsass Foundation, the device draws on research into neurological examination and movement disorders.

The PSAD measures joint range of motion, resistance to movement and muscle activity, helping clinicians and researchers assess stiffness more specifically and precisely. Its system includes a handle with integrated measurement sensors, limb-specific orthoses, data-collection software and, optionally, electromyography equipment. Measurements are transferred to a tablet for feedback, storage and later analysis. The device has been tested in people with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury. It is CE marked and available for purchase. Movotec also offers custom-orthosis couplings, user support, annual calibration, software updates and practical training.
