Ministério Público é o órgão Estatal que tem como função principal zelar pela boa aplicação da lei, pela ordem jurídica e pelo estado democrático de direito e foi criado para defender os interesses da sociedade. Cabe-lhe, enquanto um agente de transformação a serviço da cidadania, dos interesses sociais e da democracia, tomar providências para que se cumpra a lei, por exemplo, quando um grupo de pessoas, a comunidade ou a própria sociedade se sente lesada em algum de seus direitos garantidos por lei. "Ministério Público é instituição permanente, essencial à função jurisdicional do Estado, incumbindo-lhe a defesa da ordem jurídica, do regime democrático e dos interesses sociais e individuais indisponíveis".(art. 127 da Constituição Federal)

About MPMA
MPMA, or Ministério Público do Estado do Maranhão, is a public institution created to defend the interests of society by ensuring the proper application of the law, maintaining legal order, and upholding democratic principles.
