Metairie Small Animal Hospital is committed to keeping your furry friend's chompers healthy and strong. In addition to basic dental care, our practice provides advanced veterinary dentistry services. We offer routine dental care, such as cleaning, as well as treatment for more complex dental conditions.

Tartar buildup can be a common issue for our pets since they don't brush their teeth like we do. That's why we perform dental scaling, using sonic and ultrasonic power scalers, to remove tartar both above and below the gum line. Our goal is to help your pet retain as many teeth as possible.

However, if necessary, we also offer tooth extraction to relieve pain or prevent periodontal disease from advancing. Prior to any dental procedure, we conduct a full physical exam and may run blood tests. Our practice ensures your pet's comfort by using anesthetic gel and local anesthesia injections.

Throughout the procedure, we closely monitor their vital signs. To maintain your pet's oral health, we recommend bringing them in for a dental check-up at least once a year. Catching dental problems early can greatly benefit your pet's overall well-being.

If you notice any signs of dental issues, such as bad breath, drooling, or bleeding, don't hesitate to contact our practice. Trust us with your pet's dental care, and schedule an appointment today!
