The Mississippi Breastfeeding Coalition (MSBFC) is a statewide organization working to make breastfeeding the cultural norm in Mississippi. Its vision is a healthier Mississippi through breastfeeding, and its mission is to promote and support breastfeeding through collaboration with families, health providers, and communities. The coalition brings together members and volunteers to advance education for health professionals, support Baby-Friendly initiatives, increase the number of skilled lactation professionals, build a breastfeeding-supportive culture, and strengthen the organization’s reach.

MSBFC provides information and resources for parents, providers, and workplaces. Parent topics include skin-to-skin contact, maternal mental health, safe sleep, supplementation, and frequently asked questions. Resources for providers include guidance on Baby-Friendly practices in obstetric and pediatric settings, hospital protocols, WHO growth charts, and information about formula gift bags. The coalition also offers workplace resources and information about the MS MILC League. It advocates for breastfeeding rights in Mississippi, where women may breastfeed anywhere they are lawfully present, and invites people to participate through membership, volunteering, or donations.
