MSI Ortho-Academy

Modern Smile Institute (MSI), also known as MSI Ortho-Academy, provides orthodontic education for dentists seeking to develop practical skills in diagnosing, planning, and treating patients. Its Advanced Visit System (AVS) is a structured training program designed to help participants manage cases through to results that consider aesthetics, function, and stability. The curriculum spans foundational, intermediate, and advanced topics, including orthodontic biomechanics, craniofacial anatomy and growth, malocclusion, cephalometric analysis, extractions, bracket selection, space and anchorage planning, temporary anchorage devices, and functional appliances.

Learning combines lectures, assessments, case presentations, laboratory exercises, clinical observation, and supervised hands-on practice. MSI also offers online lessons through Teachable for dentists unable to attend in person, alongside in-person lab sessions. The institute describes the full program as requiring about 30 months, with six study days per month and approximately 1,500 hours of learning and practice.

Its approach emphasizes building understanding and clinical reasoning rather than relying on fixed treatment formulas, with the aim of preparing dentists to manage orthodontic cases more independently
