About MSU Surplus Store
The MSU Surplus Store and Recycling Center is a brand that revolutionizes the way the MSU Community handles its used materials. By implementing an innovative program, we aim to reduce the amount of university waste that ends up in landfills, effectively keeping MSU green. We actively collect materials from the MSU community and diligently search for their value.
Reusable items are made available to MSU instead of purchasing new ones or are sold through our Surplus Store. In cases where items cannot be reused, we redirect them to our recycling center. Here, all recycled materials are sorted and sent to regional manufacturers for repurposing.
Our efforts have resulted in a significant decrease in campus waste, with 13,000,000 pounds of material diverted from landfills last year alone. Our ultimate vision is to lead MSU towards a zero-waste culture, funding all our programs through revenue generated by waste diversion. As Spartans, we embrace the challenge because Spartans will.
