About Malaysian Timber Certification Council
The Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC) is an independent organization that develops and operates the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS). Their aim is to strengthen the MTCS and promote sustainable forest management and chain of custody certification. The MTCS provides independent assessment of forest management practices and audits timber product manufacturers and exporters to ensure that their products are sourced from sustainably managed forests.
This helps to manage Malaysia's natural forest and forest plantations while meeting the demand for certified timber products. The audits are conducted by independent certification bodies that are notified under the MTCS. The MTCS has been endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), the largest forest certification program globally.
